Hey all, I just got my motor back from a guy who cleaned the carb and made some adjustments, (prior to that motor wouldn't start) but now that I have it it sputters and cough and struggles to accelerate.
Although it sometimes catches and then powers back down. I have noticed however that it always runs normally with just the last 4 to 10 seconds of fuel in it, if I disconnect the gas hose and run it dry. but not immediately when I disconnect the hose. Do you think its a tank/hose problem or something else

Hi there, if the motor is running poorly, and then improves briefly when it is running out of gas, I would suspect that it is running too rich. I don't know what the carb looks like on your motor, but I would imagine turning in/tightening your adjustment(s) might help. Hopefully someone who knows more about your motor chimes in. I'd search this forum for setting your carb. Hope you figure it out, Drake

Take it back to the guy and have him fix it properly. That's what you paid him for, right?

I would take it back to the guy but he did the work for free due to a friend of a friend/favor deal. Any other suggestions?

Try spraying some fuel mix in the carb...see if it improves.

Remove plugs see if they're wet.

Pump fuel line bulb... if rpms build...look to fuel pump if they do.

Do you have fresh gas?
