I am wondering if there any parts boats available that would have some compatible parts with a 1987 Baylinder Capri 18' with an outboard Force 125hp motor. I am interested is a couple of parts.
Fuel tank float.
Fuel Gauge
Speed Gauge (not RPM)
***Plastic Part***
I have a damaged step corner. This may not be the correct name. This plastic cover is found on the rear of the boat. It fits between the outboard and the fiberglass frame. It is fitted molding and may be rivited on. This plastic covers the gap between top and hull fibreglass.
Here is a picture of the transom trim plastic. It is rivet installed.
Do you know about the speed detection device. A tube or something?
I am missing this part as well. I need more information on this part and installation into the boat. I would like to replace it as well.
There are two things on a boat that are notorious for giving false readings. One is your fuel gauge, the other is your speedo. If you really want to replace your unit then go to any West Marine or other purveyor - they should have any and all replacement parts you need.
I would suggest saving up a few bucks and buying a GPS ( handheld will work fine ) unit. They are far more reliable and will give you many more uses other that just just speed.
That transom cap will more than likely need to be remade from scratch. If at all possible you might get by with using Marine Tex to fill in the damaged area. In any case it really needs to be addressed as any water entering that void will start to delaminate the wood - not a pleasant experience replacing a transom. Before you start throwing material in there do a quick check of your existing wood. If it's crumbly and rotten then you just might have a more pressing issue.

If you want new old stock, or used parts for bayliner, check out greatlakesskipper.com I also found a good marine salvage yard (in Main or Mass., I forget exactly) where I bought a Bayliner swim step, complete with folding ladder, stainless railings, and supports, and all mounting brackets/hardware for $50 plus shipping. Send me a PM and I'll send you their email. They don't have a website.
