I am having no luck finding a good used or rebuilt power head for my 1997 sugar sand, I am surprised because this was a very popular drivetrain in a lot of 1990's jet boats. Every online place I have called (over 15) that lists the engine can't get one so I am looking for alternatives. This is what I have gathered about the sport jet engine. It is the same engine as a Chrysler force 120hp outboard but everyone says they can't be interchanged. I need to know why, what is different. My engine put a rod through the block so I know I will at least need a block and rod, the pistons seem easy enough to find, I will not know about the crankshaft until it is removed but I am assuming it is bad. Does anyone know if I can get a block/crank/rods from a force outboard and make them fit into the sport jet? I wasn't sure if I should post this in the force section or the mercury section so if you think it should be moved let me know. I very much appreciate the fast replies I got from my first post and would also appreciate any information I could get from this wonderful forum. Cheers, Andrew

You best bet is to call Mar-Fab @931-738-2815 or www.mar-fab.com. They can repair the block and crank if it is repairable. They can also do the whole powerhead rebuild if needed. If that the case it will have to go the a supporting dealer. Talk to Larry or Kirt and if you need to go thru a dealer I am one. The crank has added weight to throw and splines are different than a outboard, there was 2 types of rods.
