Tilt/Trim Plug in Intermediate Housing

Need some info that I'm probably not ready to hear. Last year I replaced the electric motor on the tilt mech. and everything worked great for 3 or so months, for some reason or another yesterday I took the boat out for the first time this year and when I lowered the motor it lowered just fine, but blew out the end plug.
Can anyone tell me what happened that could have caused this, and any possible fixes. The outdrive itself (the lower unit is new last year) is easy to lift up and down now with one hand.
Thanks with any help.
Joe

Re: Tilt/Trim Plug in Intermediate Housing

Thank You Cheifalen,
Looks great. My nephew said he could fabricate one.
Thanks for the rapid reply. The same thing happened to both of our outdrives within 2 months, he's just been living with his inability to use reverse. We both lost our caps and the worm gear off the shaft, but he said he could get those ordered.

The end cap is easy the worm gear is the problem, bit they have those on ebay also.
