does anyone know the dimension that the tools that set the gearspacings on an Evinrude 1988 70 HP lower unit.?
I am doing this myself and if i had the numbers i could make a guage myself( toolmaker)..I got my lower unit apart fine...but there were NO shims in either the drive shaft of the lower spline...there are a lot of new parts in this unit..the water pump didnt look like it ever ran and the gears all look brand new in the lower end.
a few of the thrust bearing washers are pitted....and a few of the thrust washers are as well( mayeb they re-used them)
the seals all look perfect( ill put new ones in anyway)
so if anyone has those numbers for setting the gears on either splined shaft and can give them to me Id appreciate it.
My mechanic doesnt really want to mess with the lower unit.
