Re: First time user and confused
Hi Louis, you're definately at the right place.
A so-called "water pump" replacement is, most of the time, an inadequate term as only the moving part of it, the impeller (rubber star-like thing), need to be replaced, unless you use your engine in saltwater and the complete pump housing is completely shot.
Anyway, this is a pretty easy straightfoward job to do. Something that can be done in a driveway without specialized tools.
As an other members's asking, could you please tell us why did you want to change it: preventive maintenance (good) or lack of cooling water (bad)? Then, we'll be able to guide you step-by-step if you need so.
Better then, if you plan to work a bit by yourself on your engine (wich is a VERY good thing, cause you'll learn a lot), i strongly suggest that you get at least a copy of a generic (Seloc/Clymer) manual, wich is quite good for basic maintenance (it will pay for itself very quickly) or, if you plan to dig deeper into your engine, a specific OEM manual (Service Factory manual).
