I found a starter & bracket for a 35 hp 1957 Evinrude/Johnson. Will it work on a 1957 Evinrude 18 hp? I think it will but, just wanted to double check before dolling out the hard-to-come-by-these-days cash. Thanks
P.S. If the answer is yes, I'm giving serious thought to swapping flywheels between the the 57 Evinrude 18 hp (no gear) & the 64 Johnson 18hp (geared)-any foreseeable problems?

The starter bracket will NOT fit, not even in your dreams. The flywheels mentioned should be ok. Not sure about the starter motor itself, but it probably will. Would have to check on that.
EDIT: I just checked the flywheels, 580866 flywheel fits 1957 thru 1971. I think you can also just swap the ring and ring gear.
