The tag which I was "certain" had the serial number and model for this motor turned out to have ONLY the SN. ....6540RC81763.
I have scoured the motor for a model number; there is a silver disc on the block with OMC logo and the # C0081763, but I can't line that up with a model number in the Evinrude store.

Any thoughts where the elusive model number tag might be?

A 6504 is a 1975. Don't know what a 6540 is. Typo?
