I have a 96 model 150hp evinrude motor. I need a wiring diagram for the key switch. (6 prong switch) I also need information on how to install the kill switch. I need to know what color wires the kill switch hooks to, to the key switch wires. Thanks so much for your help with this problem.

Re: wiring kill switch.

"B" (battery) - red with purple stripe
"A" (accessory) - purple
"M" raised (kill circuit) - yellow/black
"M" lower (kill circuit) - black
"S" (starter) - yellow with red stripe
"C" (choke) - purple with white stripe

Your kill switch should be connected to the two "M" terminals.

Rhino, Some of the dashboard mounted OMC Ignition switches will function as a kill switch. They will accept a standard lanyard and clip. When the lanyard is pulled off the ign switch, it turns the ign off. You might look at yours to see if it will work. A standard lanyard clip set is only a few dollars.

Re: wiring kill switch.

If I'm not mistaken the raised "M" terminal is where your black/yellow wire from your harness and the black/yellow wire from the kill switch would attach to and then the black wire from the kill switch goes to The blade type threaded connector labeled "M" on the key switch as well as the ground from the harness. This allows the kill switch to short the black/yellow wire that goes to the motor when the kill switch is activated. This should also allow the key switch to ground the black/yellow wire when you switch it to off. Let me know if that worked.

See the link below for a longer version with pictures.

Thats a great link...I used those same pics to fix a harness/ignition switch a bit ago...The above from Eligonzalez is nice-to-have info. Kill goes to the M opposite the Ground M lug.
