This week I took my boat out to do a little early spring fishing and noticed whenever the "master" power switch was on, the live well aerator would run continuously no matter if the aerator switch was in the "on" position or "off" position. I disconnected the leads to the aerator on/off switch and the pump still runs whenever I turn on the master power switch. I have not re-wired anything since I winterized the boat last fall. Can anyone tell me what might be going on to cause the aerator pump to run non stop?

Re: Non stop Aerator

Critters love stored boats and wire insulation, something probably chewed through a wire and you have a short, if you diconnected the switch that means it is between the pump and the switch and you just have to follow the wires back till you find the short.

Boat wiring is suppose to be a closed system unlike a car where the entire car is grounded, a boat should have a wire ground for everything so you may have more than one short.
