I need some help guys,
I have a 1975 model 50 hp Evenrude that is not firing properly. At times it will fire right up and at other times it will not produce any spark to the plugs(neither plug) Can someone tell me where the break down may be? I have had some people tell me that it could be the power pack, others tell me the coils. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Re: Intermidiate spark

Usually it is the coils on older models. Pull your flywheel and have a look at them. If the are cracked, replace them. Rick.

i had a 73 50hp doing they same thing, it was the power pack, a coil would only effect one plug.

if it was the coils, would they fire at times and then not fire? when I am getting fire, I get it from both, when I am not, neither plug gets a spark.

Re: Intermidiate spark

power pack is what is causing both not to fire.
