I am having an almost new 90Hp Merc 4 stroke mounted on my older Bayliner and was wondering what type of guages are compatible with this engine. It does come with a tach but it is an analogue unit not a smart craft. Do I need adaptors for smart guages? Can I direct wire in Trim guage and temp etc?

Fuel: Boat related - No change necessary.
Speedo: Boat related - no change necessary.
Temp: Engine related - needs appropriate engine sender or factory gauge.
Water Pressure: Engine related - pressure tube connection on engine
Oil Pressure: Engine related - need sender on engine or factory gauge
Trim: Engine related - engine must have sender.
Volts: Boat related - no change necessary
Tach: Engine related - connects to engine harness or use factory tach. Check with dealer.

The installer should make all of these connections for you or suggest what you need to make everything work.

Thanks for the reply. I was given the option to get the smart tach but went with the cheaper one (motor poor). If the smart tach was an option would the sender units already be in place on the motor? Apparently the smart tach gives oil pressure, temp and trim along with the tach. The salesman also told me that the speedo sender is built in to the motor as well.
