I dont know for sure, but usually its port timing and size and exhaust tuning.

Ports and Exhaust also timming does play a major role but some will have different gaskets on the compressed thickness (= different compression ratio)

Re: 150hp vs 200hp???

I have a simular question....I have a 150 (running beautiful) and a 200 hp parts motor of the same year. what would be required to convert my 150 to 200? is it worth the effort?

no it is not worth the effort. there are a number of different things that need to be done and you have to be a real pro to get it to all balance out properly. If you want a 200, sell your 150 and buy a 200 that is the way to go. I am pretty sure the crank is different, the exhaust ports, and some other internal differences. I just could not bear to take a part a perfectly good motor.
