If battery's not hooked up to motor,and you try to pull start should there be sparks going through to spark plugs?Im not getting any sparks at all.

It should start and run without a battery. However, you will destroy the alternator rectifier by doing it. So, don't.

P.S. If the control is hooked up, is the key on?
