I'm realatively new at trying to check any of this stuff, so please bear with me, but can someone tell me how to check the oil in my lower unit of a '88 Classic 50 Merc, 45 hp. I know where the vent screw and fill screws are, but not how to check it.

Thanks in advance

Re: Lower Unit Question

Easy to do. Keep the motor in a vertical position then remove the vent screw. The vent screw is the top one. The oil should be level with the bottom of the vent hole.
