Hi all
Just starting a tread on my first project boat. Some back round. I live in australia and I am 25year old. Cant wait to get stuck in. Have stripped the boat of most fitting (forgot to take photos before I did this). The boat is a 5.5meter or 18ft. Here are some pics of the boat as it stands.

First off is taking the cap off and getting started on taking the floor out. The transom needs to be replaced but the stringers are in perfect shape. Want to build the floor up to put the fuel tank under and some storage. Also will build a center console with a t-top. Will get cracking the weekend.

that's one is easy, i see no need to pull the cap unless the transom needs to be replaced. he does not say if anything is rotten.

TD That is what I thought about the transom too. I just assumed he knew it was.

Re: My first boat project.

the transom is rotten in one patch where the live tank fittings are. So I like to do jobs right and will be replacing the whole thing rather then a section.
Had a look under the floor and the stringer are solid. Also no foam in this one and only small factory stingers.

Nice lines on that hull. I bet it tracks well and cuts the chop with minimal spray.

What are you doing for the CC? Building your own, buying new or used?

Re: My first boat project.

I will build my own CC cause I am a cabinetmaker/carpenter by trade so have all the tools and can get all the ply on my accounts. Will be buying the t-top through. Have some good off the shelf items here in Australia. It had a 1978johnson 115 on the back and drive really well in the water. Will be chasing a newer motor soon. But i'll get the boat to what I want first.

If you're really handy there is a thread on here about a home-made T-top that came out awesome! Also the 115 Johnny is a great motor so I wouldn't replace it just to get something newer unless there's something major wrong with it. Parts are still readily available.
