1993 8 Hp Mariner Outboard

I have a 1993 mariner 8hp outboard. Can it be converted to a 9.9 or 15 ?
I have heard that, depending on the model 6hp-9.9hp are real similar.
Is it a matter of changing the entire carb or just the main jet?

there are two 9.9 carbs. used in 1993. if your 8 h.p motor has carb# WM6-18B, you need 9.9 carb part# 1392-8846A14. if you have another # on your carb. -the other 9.9 carb part# is 1392-8846A8. the price is about $175.00.+-.

Thanks, what company do I need to lookup to use those part #'s ?
