Carpet and Plywood

I am in the process of building a second console to install a full walkthrough windshield on an aluminum fishing boat.

The boat is never left without a cover or put away wet. Reading here I am under the impression that I have to cover the ply in resin to seal it before carpeting. Any way I could just cover it without painting or sealing?

Will the carpet glue stick to resin?

Thanks for your replies.

Yes, you can do it any way you wish, it just depends on how long you want it to last.

Re: Carpet and Plywood

If this were the deck we were talking about then yes seal with resins, however, and I'll probably get an F for this but I wouldn't resin coat it the carpet glue itself once cured will seal it up pretty good, my 1990 Chaparral has carpet throughout including deck and the deck was the only wood that was factory resin coated, the plywood in all the seat bases was carpeted directly over the plywood same with the bow section panels, there was some rot here and there but the boat is 19yrs old.
