i/o no forward

Last season I lost forward on my 88 celebrity callis i/o .I am a new boat owner and was wondering what the trouble may be. I followed the cable from the throttle assembly to the motor.And everything moves when you put it in forward and reverse but I have no forward movement. I am at a loss as to what it might be .Could anyone give me any ideas to move forward on this repair.

Pull the boat out of the water and without the engine running put it in gear, now go to the back and try to spin the prop. If you can then one of 2 things is wrong 1) Your shift cable has come disconnected from the outdrive, or 2) you have spun the prop.

Depending on your outdrive fixing these issues will vary.
