Just bought the above motor. RUns great. THe motor came with a 10 x 12 prop. I have the motor on a 16 ft. aluminum, riveted boat. Boat is very light, no console, no flooring, just 2 batteries and me, 270lbs. I know all about the effects of pitch and rpms, but i broke my tiny tach and dont want to by a new one just for this, so what would you guys suggest, Im thinking about a 16p prop. because i know this motor has got to be way overreving at full throttle. BOat probly weighs 400-500lbs with me and batts. thanks luke

Ayuh,...

Then you probably know that nobody here wants to answer your question based on pure speculation either....

It'd be kinda like driving while Blind,.. in the Dark....

Your motor is free reving can run comfortably at 5,800 rpm.
I think you have more weight than you think; boat about 300-350,motor 150,
you 270,batteries 80,6 gal gas 48.Probably oars and an anchor I figure your total is around 900-1000.I would run it as is until you can get a tach.
Just try to be aware of the rpm. a 12" is slightly on the light side of mid range props and at 900lbs I wouldn't really call the boat light.Perhaps you could borrow a shop tach.Instead of buying a prop get a tach so you know exactly where your at.Don't forget motor height affects performance.
