Suzuki 2.2hp losss of spark...

I am on a circumnavigation and have had many problems with my Suzuki 2.2hp. When there is a spark I receive a shock when I touch the cord, that is when it is running. Other times it decides not to spark at all and will not run till I jiggle the spark cable around. I have done everything I can to this engine to keep it running, I even cut the spark wire that was shocking me when I touched it and spliced on a new wire that worked for a short while, and now there is no spark at all no matter what I do. What can I do to see if I missed something? Will I have to buy a new wire and fitting? This will cost over a 100 dollars to replace and if there is something that I am missing any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have replaced the spark plug as well 3 times with no luck...
Thanks!!!

Re: Suzuki 2.2hp losss of spark...

not sure what year you have... can you post the serial number?

here is a diagram from a 1997 2.2

If you click on Fig 10 as an example, it looks like your coil has a kill switch which grounds out the system. Could be a faulty kill switch which is always grounding out the ignition coil. Do some continuity testing.

Here's some testing procedures:
