I currently have a Lowrance X135 Fishfinder. I am considering upgrading to a HDS-5x Multifunction Echosounder.
Do I also need a new transducer or can I use the one on the X135?

Also can anyone explain the difference in the two transducers that are available with the HDS-5x?

Thanks:cool:

Really doubt you can use the old transducer.

Read the thread on the HDS-5 for info on the two types.

The 200khz tranducer is still 20 degrees but I belive it is different. Lowrance use the 200 khz for the 83 khz transducer and per Lowrance some how get 120 degree cone.

Big thread on the same subject in Kandil thread.

I talked to Lowrance support the other day. The guy said any transducer with the blue connector will work. The HDS uses the standard 200khz transducer, but it's the unit the can add 83khz in addition to the 200khz. The HDS can also use the 200/50khz transducer as long as it has the blue connector.
