I've got an 2000 Mercury 25Hp (2 stroke) and was wondering if anyone has had any luck boring out the powerhead and adding the .5mm over sized pistons... I'd like to hear the pros and cons so I can make a educated decision... Also, a ball park price I've been told anywhere from $400-$750, I know I can get a new/rebuilt block and piston set for about $750 plus install... Thanks

Re: Mercury 25Hp question

No problem... I've run into a issue with scoring on my cyclinder walls and pistons... My options it seems is to either bore it out or go with a new block and piston set which would be more expensive... Not sure what caused the damage, I had not seen a decrease in performance, just sent it in for a tune up and that's what they found...
