I just bought 2 fuel filters 65L-24563-00 and when switching out I noticed that the new filter did not come with the small o ring on the top and a little red plastic ring.. I switched the o ring but do I need that red ring and what does it do? It is hard to believe that you pay over $30 and they don't even give you the o ring or the red thing..

when the red ring rises you have water.
water is heavier than gas. the ring floats in water and sinks in gas.
