1966 Starcraft 16' closed bow. I took this home yeaterday and I will just say it needs everything. I picked it up with a vintage 1966 65 Merc 4 cylinder, trolling motor & fishfinder.

No seats....
Rotted plywood floor....
Filled with snow and trash.....
Trailer needs work too.....

But it is exactly what I was looking for as a project boat ;)

The hull overall looks to be okay and the most positve points are it has been a fresh water boat. Pictures will follow but they will come slowly due to all the snow and ice still in the boat.

Something to keep me out of trouble :)

Yep, Sounds like a fun (lots of WORK) project.
Go ahead post some picture of the boat full of snow.
I love to pick on you guys that live where that stuff flies.

COVER your boat! Don't let it fill up with snow.

I know the plywood floor is rotted so the snow is not going to make a difference :(

Interesting thing about the 65 Merc ...... the skeg is NOT beat up and for an engine built in 1966 I consider that a plus.... the paint is obvious but even the prop is in great shape.

Wheres the wind shield ?

I think the windshield is with Waldo so maybe to question should be where's Waldo? :p

Who knows..... long gone :( I was actually looking on ebay and say a few walk through windshields which would allow access to the bow..... I might even leave it bare.

Re: 1967 Starcraft 16' closed bow

I seen him the second tuesday of last week on I 75 heading south !!! lol

I like the idea of the walk threw , on my next ride , the crownline 68 it has the solid windshield , I never had one like that before , was wondering about the anchor , and crawling around it !! but we will see !!

Ok Bob its up to you but my vote is for the walk threw !! John

Easy to make that a walkthrough.. I'll have pictures of how it's done on my 91 Monark Legend thread, (not that you need em). I should be at that point about the time you thaw out.

Let me know how the steering is on that boat. I have a Teleflex Rack with helm and cable that you can have for the shipping costs. It's for an 18 but you can have the cable shortened.

Check out my pictures. I was able to take a standard bowrider windshield, bow it out a little bit and make it work perfectly on the curved deck. Even the "walkthrough" part works.

Pictures and windshield look great. That was the type of result I am looking for. :)

Re: 1967 Starcraft 16' closed bow

You'll find it very easy to redo. Transom and deck were a breeze. I used 3/4" ply for both (doubled for transom). For the side pieces it looks like you'll have better templates to work from than I did. I replaced the dash "board" with a PVC trim board from lowes. The boat handles well but it's pretty bad in the chop. With the smaller motor you might have a slower planing speed than I do. Mine's not great in that respect but it does LEAP out of the hole with the 85.

Re: 1967 Starcraft 16' closed bow

I have actually been talking with another iboater and it is kind of unknown..... have NOT be able to locate a data plate (yet).

The dimensions are 16' long, 65-66" across (beam) and a 20" transom. Not sure if it's a Jupiter.... could be a dolphin model.... I am sure I will figure it out.
