I am having trouble with my 79' Mercury 40hp. I need to know how to find a replacement clamp that attaches inside the engine and holds the transmission and throttle cables in place. It is busted on the lower half so the transmission cable doesn't stay in all the way. The throttle cable will also pop out on rough water. What is the part I am looking for, and where do I find it... Also, would this make the controls hard to operate? I have noticed that I have to play with the shifting location and throttle on the control box in order to achieve high speed. When I push the shifter forward all the way the throttle backs off and it is tough to get the throttle up to high speed. What would cause this problem, or am I just not using the controls right?
