The solenoid on my 96 force went out, and I just recieved my replacement from iboats. My problem is that I cannot find any markings or way to tell which way it should be mounted. I don't want to put it in upside down and have the wires reversed. I'm used to automotive solenoids where the terminals are marked. Does it not matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Doesn't matter! the heavy duty contacts are totaly enclosed so it does not matterwhich is battery. Same gioes fir the signal coil terminals. It is simply an electromagnetic coil so there is no specific side to the terminals.

Thanks for the reply I put it on Saturday and it cranks right up. I also put a new voltage regulator on, so now its charging my tach is working and I don't have to worry about any more drained batteries.

FYI I purchased an almost exact OEM replacement solenoid for my 88' 85 hp for less then 30 bucks at N@p@ auto parts.
