Default Tilt Cylinder Disassembly - 1998 Yamaha 250

Fellas,

I need help with the tilt cylinder assembly. I have all new O-rings & seals to replace, but cannot figure out for the life of me how to get the plunger off the end of the shaft (which would allow me to replace all the seals).

I have the subassemby out laying on the bench...that was a piece of cake. There's a very small roll pin in one side of the plunger that looks like it could be locking it on... Anyway, I stopped before I broke something.

See attached pic of the part. Thanks for your help!

ok
just did it.
to dissasemble the piston from the shaft lock the tilt pin end in a vice and using a strap wrench, nothing metalic, unscrew the piston from the shaft.
if you remove the #30 torx screw holding the piston springs and check balls in place remove them for cleaning and it may be possible to use a pin type spanner to unscrew the piston from the shaft.

Bingo. Rodbolt, you are a magician! I used the spanner wrench in the spring hole method you suggested. I bought a nice adjustable metric spanner wrench kit from Grainger that works for all this stuff for about $60.

Thank you!
