I've got a '79 Mercruiser 470 in my Seaswirl. I'm pretty sure the outdrive is an Alpha One model. The throttle is pretty much junk. I can re-locate the trim switches to the dashboard. but is it possible to use a ski boat-type boat control? The one I was specifically looking at is made by Teleflex (http://www.go2marine.com/product.do?no=89497F)

Will this thing engage the lower end and pull the carb linkage correctly?

Thanks

that box will work fine but for that kind of money i'd just get a new Merc box.

Ayuh,...

Controls are pretty much universal,... Or atleast Adaptable to most applications...

Btw,... 1979 would be a Pre-Alpha drive...Not that it reallymatters in this case....

Re: Ski boat throttle on a Merc I/O

Thanks for the advice, guys.

I'm not paying full price for that Teleflex throttle either. I've got a line on a used one for around $100. Seems pretty reasonable.

I've got a couple more questions. What model outdrive is it if it isn't an Alpha One? It's a 1979 Mercruiser 470. Also, will the shift and throttle cables that I've already got in the boat work with that Teleflex? I can just replace them with new replacement units and it will all work nice and smooth?

Thanks again.
