hello to you,
I am working on my lower unit and while removing the gear shift lever noticed there was something missing on the carb cover and don'know what it was and if it's important: it should be fastened to the alluminum part on the top,
and there are two power packs, a rectifier and one more electronic unit - what is it for.
I am sorry I don't have a manual, but they don't want to mail it to me overseas.
Any info would by highly appreciated.

Those holes on top of the carb cover are for the old style choke solenoid. you don't need anything there. You have a primer pump. They just kept using the old choke cover. the other part you see is a voltage regulator.

Best thanks, I'm getting to know the motor.
It is not a big deal that it's old. I am old as well; should I be thrown away.
When I rebuild anything I begin to care for it more.
