Hi, I know I posted these topic a few month's ago but I wanted to get an opinion on my broken skeg, There just enough to put a skeg guard on it, I was looking into wielding it but I nervous about the seal leaking afterwards, Shoul I just out the guard on it and be done? Thanks for any replys!

Ayuh,... And the answers don't change....

The Skeg can be replaced by Welding it,...
Or,.. a Skeg-gard can be installed,...
Or,.. Just Run it,... The Skeg isn't at all Necessary.....

Re: skeg

The best way to fix it is to have a welder familiar with aluminum welding. Be careful with stainless steel skeg guards. If you do hit something hard again you run the risk of tearing off the bullet where the holes are drilled to mount it. Or as stated before leave it alone.

Re: skeg

You might want to look at the Blackfin skeg....

It is 'glued' into place...and doesn't require any drilling, or tapping.

When...and if...I ever need to make this repair, this is what I will be doing first!
