Outboard year??

I just aquired an old Evinrude Starflite 4 Fifty V4 (4 fifty written in script) serial # 50514-11789.

Can anyone help me out with the year of this beast?

this is the basis of the outboard V4 that made Johnson/Evinrude.

I just put it on the stand tonight, sprayed some light weight oil in each cylinder, rolled it over by hand a few times, injected some 32:1 mix in each cylinder and a little down the carb. Pulled it once and it fired right off.

I got it and two other outboards for free from a gentleman in Gillette, Wyoming today, he had them on craigslist.

1- Evinerude, Starflite 4 Fifty
1- Johnson, Super Sea-Horse 50
1- McCulloch, Scott 40

I about fell out of my chair when he told me what they were. I was on my way to pick them up when he called a said they were froze to the ground. I told him to just leave them be and I would help him get them out of the ice. Unfortunatly he took to breaking them out of the ice with a prybar and damaged the old Rude and McCulloch to the piont of just breaking them down and selling them off piece by piece.
