You have to turn the engine to bottom out the cam at tdc for each cylinder before tightening them anyway so.....: YES the valve lash must be ADJUSTED correctly at that time.

I cannot guess the procedure you used or are going to use, but your method sounds like a shortcut. You always want to verify the lifter preload after any adjustment of the rockers.

Too tight and engine will not rev past 3500-4000 under load. Too loose and you get a lot of noise, less power and sooner or later unusual wear and eventual failure.

If no lifter noise, and engine revs under load to the top range, and no bent pushrods after 10 minutes or so then they must be close to spec even if accidentally.

Yes, just torque the rocker nuts to 22 ft lbs. Your valves are not adjustable.

Thanks Again Don, Started Going Thru Procedure And Noticed Torq Value Looked Them Over Look Just Like 302 Ford , Im A Ford Guy.
