My 1998 70hp Evinrude has been sitting for 2 years. I have cranked it up a couple of times a year. I cranked it last week and now there is oil dripping slowly out of the exaust? Does anyone know hat has caused this and is a serious problem. Thanks.

I had black oil leaking down the side of the exahust housing, (down the outside running down towards the lower unit. I had a bad head gasket, and the fuel was not burning all the way, so oil was left over. You proball have a bad head gasket, but they are easy to change, because the head is very easy to get to.

There are about 18 bolts holding the head on, take them off, and tighten them in the right order. Look in your manual.

basically, water is getting into your cylinders, (most likley)

Typically that is exhaust residue probably smells gassy.Would be heavier if run in for short times.
