I have a 1967 16' stevens flat-bottom with a 1971 Johnson 125 h.p. long shaft. Saw answer to stall problem but need to find out if I can flush-out the molded-in tanks under the gunnels on both sides. They seem to have no-slosh baffles built in to them. Any suggestions on technique and solvent??? to clean the tanks?

Re: flushing fuel tanks

Usually the tanks are removed for a good flushing. I've rigged up inline pumps to get the gas out, added bleach to kill fumes/vapors. Then the saw-zall came out, large tank removal job. Guessing you could pressure wash with soap and water, pump out ALL remaining fluids. But then you'd have to get some air in em to dry em out, COMPLETELY. Take another look at removal option. Then you just put some marbles or small rocks in there, soapy water, and drive around with them in the back of your truck for a few days...............
