need help with prop choice

hello i have a 17 ft caravelle with a merc 165 inboard mostly used to pull tubes . i live in colorado and use the boat at an elavation of about 9000 ft above sea level . what would the ideal prop be for my situation and also what should i set points and spark plug gapp at for this elavation? any help would be great i am new to boating and dont have a clue

I believe your points and plug settings remain the same. However you might check your manual and see what is recommended for carb jets at that altitude. After you know those are right we need to know your RPMs at WOT and what size prop you are running now.

At the very top of this forum is a "sticky" titled "Read This First". Do that and after you get to 9000 feet and run the boat, provide us with the data you gathered as directed in the Sticky. You will have to change jets for the altitude. Timing and points gap does not change.
