Hello everyone I own a 63 Gaspar Sportsman with a inboard mer-cruiser in line 6. I received a 85 horse Johnson outboard that I prefer. Is it possible to swap motors. Is there and websites out there that with help me in that decision
Thank you

Re: Inboard to outboard

tear the back end of the boat off, build a transom, mount the outboard and run cables/controls/fuel lines.

obviously MUCH involved with each of those steps, but that's the gist of it.

Is it an inboard or an I/O?

Re: Inboard to outboard

Welcome to iboats. most are not happy with the conversion, because it throws the center of gravity off, from original. you may be lucky, as the 85 does not weight as much as the engine and outdrive.
you need to replace the transom.

plenty of how to post here to read. pictures of you situation would really help getting the best advice.

Ayuh,...

Of the 1/2 dozen or so of these conversions I've seen,....
All were junked after, because it just Don't work out right...
And,...
Going from 165hp to 85hp is going to make your boat a real Slug.....
