I have an elderly neighbor who purchased a 2007 Fisher Avenger SC, 14 footer last year. It has a Merc 40 hp. It's a nice looking boat, and good for what he does (mostly reservoir fish), but he's complaining of a problem. He says the boat seems to fill with water too easily. He says that after an hour or two of fishing there's enough water that the bilge pump can't keep up with it. He's worried that most of the water may be coming over the transom. I have not ridden with him to see the problem for myself, but he's a handy fellow and fairly knowledgeable about boats, so I trust that he's probably right. Have any of you heard of similar problems? Is the 40 horse too big for that boat?

Re: Fisher Avenger SC 14

it actually sounds like he has a leak some where. common, is the drain plug. recommend the twist type rubber drain plug. http://www.iboats.com/Twist_Drain_P...z.54343--**********.130625455--view_id.470214

if his boat is like the picture, he definitely needs a bilge pump. any water over the transom, should go into the splash well and drain immediately. he also could be stopping so fast that the water in the splash well is leaking into the bilge thru the control seals.

specs, for boat.Length 14' 3''

Max. Person Weight 600 Lbs.
Max. Weight Capacity 1020 Lbs.

Re: Fisher Avenger SC 14

I had a Fisher boat and found a few leaks.... I used gluvit on the seams and had to re-seal the live well ports and hoses. Great boats but not maintenance free ;)

if it was a new boat i would look for a loose livewell hose or unsealed mounting bolt on the motor. as much as it sounds like it is leaking a missing rivet or bad seam should be pretty easy to find with a hose or visual inspection.
