I have a 1995 Evinrude 175 ocean pro outboard. The middle hydraulic ram is leaking, the motor is making a wierd noise, and the tilt up works intermittenly. Will the motor shut it self down if it's low on oil? Can the motor be replaced or do you have to replace the whole unit? Can the ram seal (seal that surrounds the ram, appears to screw into the hydro. cylinder) be replaced? Is is cheaper and easier to replace the whole unit? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Re: Hydraulic Tilt not working/leaking

If it is a leaky seal, simply replace it. Follow the prompts here to your particular model.

If the oil level drops, the TNT simply will not work. You will hear the motor spinning, yet get no movement out of the unit.
