i've never wakeboarded before, but i'd say i'm a decent skier..my wife was asking which id rather have...a good set of skis or a wake board..i understand they are both different animals..wake boarding looks like fun my other concern is that i'd be doing this off a 18 ft walk around trophy, not really a ideal ski boat..would it be that much harder to get up with the tow point so low on the transom..its not really bad with skis..thanks in advance for the info

If your boat can pull a skier, it should pull a wakeboarder. I found it a little harder being pulled from a transom point but not that much harder. The tower does help a bit to pull you "up" but once you get used to a wakeboard it is pretty easy to get up either way.

I did skiing for some time and even though it was alright to do. I never found it extreme enough. Once you get used to it, it just seemed like you did the same thing over and over again.
So, kneeboarding was my next gig. Got pretty good at that. Could do various surface tricks and then wake to wake 360s.
Then I moved onto wakeboarding, and I have no problem riding and getting up. It takes a little more time to get out of the water, but you just need patience at the start.

This was/is all done on my 17' bowrider with a transom tow eye.

thanks everyone....wakeboard it will be..and i agree with u flwakerider..after u get good at it sking almost gets boring...the reason i was thinking new skis though was because i tried a friends connelly skis and they were smoother to ride on vs my cheapo obrien ones..but i think i should move on to the wakeboard..thanks again

Your boat will be fine to pull you out on a wakeboard, the only issue I used to have before I got the tower was my back would get kind of tired because of the weird rope angle(pulling you down). But I could go all day on a slalom ski which I have done for almost 30 yrs. Got pretty good on a slalom and have never found it boring to throw up walls of water at 35 mph on a glass lake. I think the only way to not get in a rut is to do all of the sports while at the lake. few wakeboard runs, few sets on a ski, go for a burn on the knee board, then top it off with a wild ride on the air chair. Sorry started day dreaming there for a bit.....

Haha, my parents about ten years ago bought a giant triangle pad to pull behind the boat. It was about 4 feet on each side. I remeber getting the front of the standing almost stright up and basically barefooting while holding on to it.
It was a lot of fun. To bad I tore a hole in it when I get ripped off really hard one time.
I was thinking about buying a new one. All the people I go out with don't really do water sports, but they sure would love for me to get another tube.

I agree. I like it all, and no day at the lake is complete if I did not get to do a little of everything. Wish I had an air chair though. Once my muscles are beat, I like to end the day with a crazy ride on a tube.

I've done both and like wakeboarding better. The same on the snow. I skied from age 3 on (my father worked at a local mountain, so I used to go 2-3 days a week until I went off to college). When I got into my 20's I picked up a snowboard and never looked back.

I started snowboarding at 13, same thing. It is just way more exciting than skiing. Where do you generally board at in the mountains?
I have always stayed in the mountains on the east coast.
One year, I want to finally head over to the MidWest and hit some real mountains.
