Hello all,
New to the forums. I'm looking at purchasing a small outboard to fit to my 12' jon boat (used mostly for duck hunting). Right now I've got a chance to purchase a Yamaha 6hp motor from a local in town. It's in excellent condition. I understand what the model 6MSHY stands for (manual ignit., short shaft, handel, 2000) but I've heard this quoted as a "saltwater" engine. It was previously used (though not much) in salt water, but as I stated, is in excellent condition.

My question is this. I plan on mostly using this motor on small lakes and rivers. Will this outboard fit my needs well?
The price seems right.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
