Motorguide Laser II won't work

This is my first time in iboats.com.

I have a Motorguide Laser II es52 with a foot control. I bought it new and used it 3 times. I then stored it away for 8 years and now it does not work. I tested the motor and it works fine. When I connect the foot peddle and the battery it just beeps when I push on it. I'm not sure where to go from here. Is it the foot control or maybe a bad board at the top? Can anyone help?
