Thumbs down '73 mercury 650 3 cylinder water pump lines

I am having some friends put in a water pump and they discovered the lines are crimped and the threads are stripped out that the hydraulic lines go into.
What part are these lines called and is it hard to replace? Any suggestions? Thanks!

The water pump on these engines is driven by the crankshaft, not hydraulic hoses and the outlet is a copper tube that runs up the drive-shaft housing.

Is it a water pump your friends are putting in or a trim pump?

Have your friends ever worked on a boat before? Do you have a factory service manual?

Are you talking about two different things here? I understand that while replacing the waterpump you discovered that the hydraulic lines running to the trim cylinders were damaged.

Not sure how the two topics are related, but that's my interpretation of your question.

Both you guys are right. While working on the water pump, the housing for the trim unit had stripped connections. My fault. we figured it out today. I misunderstood. Rookie here.
