I have a 2004 40hp 2stroke Mercury outboard. We just bought it and today I was messing with a couple things when I decided to check the air filter. Well I took off the box/housing that mounts to the carbs expecting to see an air filter in there but there wasnt one. I didnt see a place for one to go either. Am I supposed to have one and if so where does it go??

Outboard engines do not require air cleaners so you engine was never equipped with one.
