well i got pretty much evrything fixed on my motor but this one thing is annyoing me

my fuel line keeps leaking when ever i disconnect the connector. it doesnt spew gas like there is pressure in the tank cause i take off the cap first before i even disconnect it. i alreayd replaced both of the o rings for air and fuel sides. i believe the spring inside the item isnt as good as it used to be and its not closing all the way most likely needs cleaning but no sure how. i think i should replace the connector but the fact that i have to go and order it again and wait. oh by the way it will leak untill all the fuel is gone out of the line which is bad for my fishing !!!

It's the o-rings, not the springs. Those are special size o-rings, nearly impossible to find outside a dealer. There are substitute ones on the market, but they usually leak because they are not "right". I have spent considerable time and expense trying to find the right size. I have come pretty close. Send me your e-mail address in a PM if you want to try some.

That is what I was suggesting without coming right out and saying it...Sierra o-rings are the wrong size. There, now I said it.

Interesting! I got mine from laingsoutboards.com and they work fine. I hadn't really thought about it by I just kind of assumed they were Sierra. But they must be OMC. Good to know for the future.

Re: dual fuel line connector piece from tank

when i worked on the one on mine i found there was crud built up where the little clips secures it onto the motor half preventing it from locking securely. After cleaning it and the spring clip itself to make sure it moves as freely as it did 50 yrs ago, it seems to be a lot more secure, i also thought about running a zip tie across both parts to keep them tight. i got my o rings from a omc dealer cost me 3$ apiece
