Just saw on the news this morning BRP is planning to lay off 1000 workers. What an awful time this is for so many people in our continent and across the world as well. Rick.
I work for a boat company and consider myself VERY fortunate to still be working.
We, Bennington, will finish out this week then have 3 weeks off(2 paid) and then the first of year we are right back to 5 days a week.
Heard this week that 2 more toon companies are going under and another company may or may not come back in January, Crest and Bently are done and Godfrey is having huge problems.
Not a week goes by that I don't hear of at least 1-2 dealers that have gone under, no doubt it is ugly out there and I am certainly holdiong my breath.
I have a nephew on cape cod who makes a tidy living taking peoples trash to the dump in his pickup, $8 a bag.
At the dump he grabs old lawnmowers , fixes them up and puts them up for sale on his lawn in springtime.
you are right but there are always to make a buck ,legaly.
still hate to see the boat companys have so much trouble .
looks like we will all be keeping our old boats ,
i have been picking up motors lately ,got a 150 evin good comps ,1983 70 good comps ,and a 1978 115 good comps and lower on all less than 300 in all of them, looks like the market for the bigger motors of age is weak causing the sale cheapley

There are hard times-no doubt. But, let's all consider how fortunate we are.
Even if unemployment hits 8% that's only 8%.
THAT IS DANG LOW, for any modern economy. There are countries, out there, that are at 40%.
BIG difference.
BTW, OMC filed in December of 2001.
BRP (Bombardier Rec. Products) bought the rights to Johnson/Evinrude in about July of 2002.
They have pretty much perfected "Direct Injection" two stroke engines. You'll probably see the "Johnson" name disappear in the next two years. "Evinrude" has a much better name recognition. It's all about "Brand".
I dream of having an Evinrude E-TEC. That is BRP's brainchild/perfector.
Thanks 5150. Sad to say that alot of manufacturers are on the brink right now. Since I have a 2007 Bentley, it concerns me when I see that they may be going under, although I haven't needed their help for anything yet..
