I am new here and have a problem finding out what year my motor is. It is a 15 horse power and I need to know where to look for the sn#. these are some of the numbers I found under the hood...010788

I do not know if any are the serial# or not.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You are looking for a 7 digit number starting with either 1, B or C, assmuing this is a US made motor. I have seen a single digit prefix before this number.
There could be a plate/sticker on the mount, also on the side of the carb is a little shiny disc, either of these two places will have it.

I bought a 7.5 2 stroke Merc (407828) for my sailboat. It has been sitting in a shop for 10 years and not started. What years is the outboard? What should I do before starting it so nothing gets damaged?
