yamaha 2hp leaking carburettor

i have recently aquired an old 2hp yamaha.
i have cleaned the carburettor (it was full of gunk), since rebuilding petrol leaks from the seal of the float bowl.
is it likely that the float has gone it could it be something else?

Seems that the fuel inlet is not being blocked, Shaun. That could be bad sealing by the needle valve or it could be a "sunk" float.
