I have a '67 Evinrude 80 hp with a lower unit leak,i got a leak by the prop and one comeing out of a little tiny hole. It's spewing chunky black fluid very thick.Where should i start looking,I had it tilted up for about two hours then when i tilted it down and i noticed black fluid spewing out of a tiny little hole.
Another question i had was i have another 67 60hp with a perfect lower unit will these interchange?
Look on the starboard (right) side of the motor. Do you see a shift lever? All of the 1967 60hp motors had one. But about half of the 80hp motors were electric shift (no shift lever)
Likely not leaking either. They have a drain hole just below the water intake. Black goo drains out of the exhaust housing through that hole. It's just unburnt fuel mixed with carbon. That's what happens when the motor idles. It's normal.
My leak is not coming from the hole in your picture it's oozing out of a small hole next to the larger bolts in your picture,i'm guessing the ones you take off to remove the lower unit. The size of the hole is is tiny

Zarillus, everything in 1967 was two-stroke, yours is a 4 cylinder 2-stroke. The other drain hole is as shown in my photo. You can see the oil stain on mine after it drained. This again is normal.
