Default Evinrude 6hp fisherman fuel pump

I have an Evinrude 6702D-E11988 that I would like to know what year it is, where I can get an exploded diagram of the fuel pump and how to take the lower gearcase off so I can replace the water pump. Thanks in advance for assistance.

Remove the four bolts and drop the gearcase down far enough to access the shift rod connector. Remove a bolt from the connector. Now the gearcase will come thr rest of the way off....BUT there is a pin in the top end of the drive shaft that has to come down through a slot. Before starting, you should have removed the spark plugs so the flywheel is easy (and safe) to rotate. As you remove the gearcase, slowly rotate the flywheel till the pin aligns with the slot and will come through. After you get it off, note the position of the pin so you can later rotate the shaft to the same position for reinstallation. Do NOT rotate the flywheel while the gearcase is off and the crank splines will stay aligned for easy reinstallation.

If all fails and you shear off the pin, get a new one. Don't even think of leaving it out. It is vital to the health of the engine.

it is a 1967, here is the correct manual http://www.outboardbooks.com/index.c...967&ID=5310 0

imho, you are better off just replacing the fuel pump. it is too important. here is the correct one.http://www.iboats.com/Sierra_18_7350...view_id.174139

"BUT there is a pin in the top end of the drive shaft that has to come down through a slot."

The pin was what was holding me up. Didn't realize I needed to rotate the flywheel to align. Thanks for the quick response from everyone.
